A Non-Governmental organisation, Give The Nations (GTN), has distributed 25,000 relief packages to Lagos residents. The Director, GTN, Precious Jefferson, speaking at a press briefing, said that the project occurred during its Mission Week, a week set aside to reach out to communities in different parts of the world.

She noted that the mission week, which happened simultaneously in other countries, started on Thursday with a prayer walk and was concluded on Friday with a programme tagged ‘Day of Salvation’ at Onikan Stadium, where relief packages were distributed to attendees.

Jefferson noted that the content of the relief package included rice, garri, groundnut oil and other food items, adding that grants and scholarships were also given out at the Stadium.

She said the NGO, which has been in existence since December 2023, cuts across all aspects of philanthropy, business and skills development with a mission to raise the next generation of global leaders, which can be achieved by leveraging grants and empowerment programmes available for young people.

Jefferson highlighted that the foundation just concluded an empowerment program in Rivers state where at least 1000 youths were trained on skills development, adding that it also aims to build 1000 boreholes across underserved communities before the end of 2024.

She noted that GTN is open to partnership with public and private organisations as it would take a lot of infrastructure and time to get across to everyone in need.

Program Director, Day of Salvation, Michael Falokun, explained that the Day of Salvation is a program organised by Love World Global Fellowship, adding that the essence of the partnership is to give succor to the needy adding that the program would happenig across countries simultaneously like Rwanda, Egypt, Iran and other countries.
