Police arraign driver for alleged obstruction
The police on Thursday arraigned a 40-year-old driver, Celestine Nweke, before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan for alleged “ wrong parking.”
Nweke, whose address was not provided, is facing charges bordering on wrong parking, reckless driving obstruction of public road, to which he pleaded not guilty.
The Prosecutor, Insp. David Adepoju, told the court that the defendant allegedly committed the offences on Feb. 10, about 8. 10 a.m, in the Kuola area of Ibadan.
Adepoju alleged that the defendant obstructed public road and prevented other road users from access to the road.
He alleged that the defendant parked at the wrong side of the road in a dangerous and reckless manner.
He also alleged that Nweke had no driver’s licence.
The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections 148 and 81 of Road Traffic Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
The Magistrate, Mrs Kausarat Ayofe, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 and two sureties in like sum.
She, thereafter, adjourned the case until April 7, for hearing.
