Police neutralise 11 bandits, rescue 85 victims in Katsina

Katsina State Police Command has said it neutralised 11 suspected bandits and rescued 85 abducted persons in January 2025.

This was made known in a statement issued by a spokesperson for the command, DSP Abubakar Aliyu, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Abubakar Musa.

He said 45 persons were arrested in connection with 52 reported major crimes, while 213 rustled animals were recovered within the period under review.

Aliyu added that four rounds of AK-47 live ammunition, three motorcycles, some quantity of vandalized armoured cables, among other items, were recovered during the same period.

“Within the period under review, a total number of 45 suspects were arrested in connection with 52 reported major crimes, including armed robbery, culpable homicide, kidnapping, and rape, among others,” he said.

“Four suspected kidnappers, six culpable homicide suspects, seven armed robbery suspects, three suspected informants to bandits, and 32 suspects in connection with offenses not mentioned above were arrested.

“Additionally, the command has succeeded in neutralizing 11 suspected armed bandits, rescuing 85 kidnapped victims, and recovering 213 suspected rustled animals.

“Also, four rounds of AK-47 live ammunition, three motorcycles, five vandalized street solar lights, two machetes and two sharp knives, one digger, and some quantity of vandalized armored cables, were recovered within the period under review as exhibits.

“I want to commend our officers and men for their hard work and dedication to duty. Our achievements this month are a testament to their tireless efforts in ensuring a safer Katsina state.

“We will continue to work closely with the community and all relevant stakeholders to ensure that our crime-fighting efforts are effective and sustainable.”
