Oborevwori tasks police on crime reduction

Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, yesterday, tasked the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) to provide adequate security against crimes such as illegal oil bunkering, kidnapping, armed robbery, cultism, and drug-related offences.
Oborevwori also urged the Police to improve the security of the nation to attract investors into the country, as well as improve the quality of life of the citizens, fostering harmony across the states.
The governor said these in Asaba to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, who was in the state on an official assignment. He said his administration had resolved to reduce crime to its barest minimum, disclosing that the state government has donated 31 vehicles, including 23 pickups and eight Sienna wagons, in addition to four Hilux vehicles previously delivered.
According to him, the donation “brings the fleet to 66 vehicles, aimed at enhancing daily patrols, especially during the ember months.
“I trust this will boost the morale of task force members and motivate them to redouble their efforts to keep our state safe.
“We remain committed to providing the necessary support to ensure peace and security in Delta State. With these measures, I am confident that our people will enjoy a secure and peaceful season.”
In his remarks, the IGP commended Oborevwori for his support to the State Police Command and other security agencies in the state, appreciating the governor for the way he managed the recent nationwide protests in the state.
