Ondo Guber: We’re set for election, says APC chair
The Chairman of the Ondo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ade Adetimehin, has disclosed that with the crisis within the party resolved, the APC is poised for victory in the forthcoming off-cycle governorship election in the state.
According to Adetimehin, the party employed internal mechanisms to resolve a crisis that trailed its governorship primary in April.
The APC chairman stated this when the State Working Committee (SWC) of the party received representatives of the British Deputy High Commission office from Lagos. The team was on a political tour to Akure, the state capital.
He said: “We have carried out extensive reconciliations, using party internal mechanisms. Today, all the governorship aspirants have set aside their differences, and we are all working for the flag bearer, Governor Lucky Ayedatiwa.”
Adetimehin informed the team that several members of other political parties have indicated interest in joining the APC ahead of the poll.
Adetimehin commended the roles of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the security agents in promoting rancor-free elections in the Sunshine State.
Earlier, Mr. Wale Adebanjo, a senior political adviser at the Commission, said they were in the state to engage key political stakeholders ahead of the November election.
Adebanjo, who was accompanied by the Southern Nigeria Post Security Manager, Mr. Shawn Anwoju, explained that the team listens to the concerns of political parties and explores ways to address them in the best interest of the state and the entire political system.
