A civil society group, The Osun Masterminds (TOM), has called on the Osun State Government to ensure that the ongoing recruitment into the Amotekun Corps and Imole Youth Corps is free from political influence and favouritism.
Speaking at the group’s monthly media briefing in Osogbo on Friday, TOM’s Executive Director, Prof. Wasiu Oyedokun-Alli, commended the government’s effort to create job opportunities for youths.
However, he warned that the benefits of the recruitment exercise could be undermined if the process is not transparent and inclusive.

“As seen in past government recruitments, political interference can derail good intentions,” Oyedokun-Alli said. “We urge the Osun State Government to ensure a fair and transparent process that does not exclude any qualified individuals based on political, ethnic, or religious affiliations.”
He expressed concerns over reports suggesting that successful candidates for the Imole Youth Corps were predominantly members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), describing such favouritism as unacceptable.
In response, the Osun State Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, dismissed the allegations, assuring that the recruitment process is open to all qualified candidates, regardless of political affiliation.
“The government will not discriminate against any party,” Alimi stated. “Members of the APC, PDP, and other parties can apply and be selected if they meet the qualifications.”
Oyedokun-Alli also criticised the planned tariff hike by telecommunications service providers, arguing that such a move would further burden Nigerians already facing economic hardship.
