Oyo Assembly suspends LG chairman over misconduct

The Oyo State House of Assembly on Tuesday suspended the Executive Chairman of Saki East Local Government Area, Hon. Emmanuel Adedokun, over alleged gross misconduct.
The House directed Adedokun to step aside until further notice and ordered the Vice Chairman, Hon. Razaq Adeyemi, to take over the administration of the local government in an acting capacity.
The suspension was announced by the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Muhammed Fadeyi, who presided over Tuesday’s plenary sitting on behalf of the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin.

The decision followed a petition presented to the House by eleven concerned members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Saki East Local Government. The petition alleged that Adedokun had shown flagrant disobedience to directives from Governor Seyi Makinde since assuming office.
The House also directed the Local Government Secretary to assume the role of Vice Chairman pending the conclusion of an investigation by the House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters.
