Oyo State, NBC win Phillips Consulting’s inaugural public sector web jurist awards
OYO State government and the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission (NBC) have emerged the overall winners of the inaugural awards in recognition of outstanding public sector websites for state governments and Federal Government agencies in Nigeria instituted by Phillips Consulting Limited, a leading business management consulting firm serving clients across Africa with headquarters in Nigeria.
Oyo State beat Abia, Lagos, Enugu and Ogun states to emerge the overall best in the states’ category. The state was equally declared best in the technical features of website design, dusting Plateau and Yobe states that were equally nominated for the award under the category.
Other states that got awards include Abia, as best in aesthetics; Lagos, best in customer experience, Enugu, best in website performance and Ogun, best in web content.
The awards featured the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Apart from the NBC, which emerged the best overall in Federal Government parastatals as well as best in web accessibility, other agencies that won awards included the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), which emerged the overall best first runners-up and equally got the award for best web content; the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) as best customers experience; the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) and the Bank of Industry (BoI) as the best in website technical features.
Responding on behalf of the awardees, the Director of Public Communications of the FIRS whose organisation was first runners-up of the overall best for Federal Government parastatals, Mr. Emmanuel Obeta, expressed appreciation to Phillips Consulting for instituting the awards, which he said, will surely bolster Federal Government agencies’ vigour in communicating with its stakeholders and engender their confidence.
He said: “It’s an exciting development, particularly that the initiative is coming from a reputable private sector firm. The competition among us is going to be eener and it can only make things better, which at the long run will be in the best interest of every one. I hope the awards will be a continuous one to propel us to new heights in our communication with our stakeholders so that they can enjoy our trust.”
