Pan African Women Empowerment Network (PAWEN), has recently celebrated unsung heroes of Africa’s business landscape, that is, female entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs.

At the PAWENpreneur Awards, the women were spotlighted for their vital contributions towards shaping the future of African business but also inspiring a new generation of women leaders.

PAWEN partnered with MTN, Bumpa, The Zone and a prominent advocate of local businesses.

The awards featured an inspiring lineup of speakers like Napa Onwusah whose keynote speech titled “The seed of the Iroko tree” infused with thought-provoking African proverbs and stories told in a “tales by moonlight” style, offered a wealth of knowledge and inspiration to attendees; some of whom received awards celebrating their contributions to business, entrepreneurship and their organisations in the past one year.

Speaking at the event, The founder of the organisation, Oluwaseyi Kehinde-Peters, said she envisages that the awards would evelove into the Oscars of the business and professional world for African women.

“Just like the Oscars have become a globally recognised symbol of cinematic excellence, I envision the PAWENpreneur Awards as the epitome of entrepreneurial and professional achievement for African women globally.

“Let us remember that this is not the end, but a beacon for the future. The PAWENpreneur Awards have set a stage, but it is your continued support, your belief in African women’s potential, that will turn this vision into a remarkable reality,” she said.

Bumpa presented 10 entrepreneurs with certificates worth 6-month Pro Plans, offering them valuable resources and tools to further enhance their business growth and amplify their impact.

Some of the 20 recipients included; Lifetime Achievement Award, Amina Oyagbola (Nigeria) Sustainability Champion Award, Adama Jalloh (Sierra Leone); Agribusiness Entrepreneur of the Year, Rita Aku-Shika Diabah (Ghana); Fashion Entrepreneur of the Year Award, Daphne Kasambala (Malawi) and Young Female Entrepreneur Award, Melat Gebreselassie (Ethiopia).
