PDP resolves crisis
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) said on Tuesday that it has resolved its crisis.
Thirteen governors elected on the platform of the party rose from a meeting with other organs of the party, including the National Working Committee (NWC), and resolved that all pronouncements regarding suspensions be put aside.
Briefing journalists at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, the chairman of the PDP Governors Forum and Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, said stakeholders have resolved the matter.
“Governors, Board of Trustee members, NWC, and National Assembly Caucus have agreed that the crisis be put behind us. There is no more suspension of anybody,” Mohammed said.
Acting National Chairman of the PDP, Umar Damagum, who also collaborated on the resolution of the crisis, said it was a family matter that has been swiftly resolved.
However, the PDP leaders are to meet for further discussion on whether or not the proposed National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the party would be held on the 24th of October, 2024.
Responding to a question on whether the NEC meeting is still sacrosanct, Governor Bala Mohammed stated that “the sacrosanctity of the NEC meeting is subject to further discussion by stakeholders in the PDP.”
