They were arrested on October 4 at about 8:30 p.m. by officers from the Igbeba Police Station, acting on information about a syndicate involved in burglarising shops and stealing cables from transformers in Ijebu Ode and its surrounding areas.
According to the command’s spokesperson, SP Omolola Odutola, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Igbeba said complaints had been received from victims of shop burglaries, who were still counting their losses due to items stolen from an electronics shop in September 2024 and during several other burglaries in October.
Following numerous complaints, ranging from cable theft and transformer vandalisation to removing property from homes while the owners were absent, the police were instructed to investigate.
During questioning, Emmanuel confessed to being part of the burglary syndicate and provided information that led to the arrest of the other suspects.
Also, during a search, burglary tools, including an iron cutter, a drilling machine, a cutting machine, a hammer, a screwdriver, and an iron chisel, were recovered from Samuel Sunday Idoko’s residence.
“The suspects are currently undergoing further interrogation, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend any remaining individuals involved and recover additional stolen items,” Odutola added.
