The Police in Edo State have arrested a 50-year-old man, KC Okojie Prince, for the alleged theft of two electricity transformers and two drums of 2.5 mm flexible cable wires.

Also in custody is Aruka Uche, 40, who allegedly received the stolen items. An accomplice, identified only as Ojo, is currently at large. The suspects reportedly committed the offence on August 11 at No. 8, Idugboe Estate, off Sapele Road, Benin-City.

The Guardian learnt that the suspects “deceitfully gained entrance” to a premise and made off with the following electrical equipment: one 300kva transformer, one 100kva transformer, and two drums of 2.5mm flexible cable wire

Spokesperson for the Edo State Police Command, SP Moses Joel Yamu, disclosed this in a statement yesterday. He stated that diligent investigation by operatives of the X-Squad in Benin-City led to the arrest of Prince, who confessed to committing the crime with Ojo.

“He further led our operatives to the receiver of the stolen items, Aruka Uche, and all the equipment was recovered at No. 5 Eben Street, off Akpakpava, Benin-City,” Yamu said.

Meanwhile, the State Commissioner of Police, Nemi Edwin-Iwo, has sought the support and cooperation of the public in providing information that may lead to the apprehension of criminals.

Edwin-Iwo reiterated the Command’s commitment to ensuring that the rate of kidnappings, armed robbery, and other criminal activities is reduced to the barest in the state.
