Police confirm explosion in Katsina LGA
The Katsina State Police Command has confirmed an explosion which was caused by an articulated vehicle ferrying several gas cylinders at Magamar Jibia, in Jibia Local Government Area.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Abubakar Aliyu, who made the confirmation in a statement issued to newsmen Friday afternoon said the incident occurred at a filling station.
Aliyu said that though no lives were lost, six vehicles were however severely damaged during the incident.
“Upon arrival, operatives found a truck loaded with gas cylinders engulfed in flames at Tamal filling station along Kagadama – Magamar Jibia road, Jibia LGA,” Aliyu said. “The joint team swiftly deployed preventive measures to protect lives and minimize property damage, successfully quenching the fire.
“Six motor vehicles were significantly affected by the fire incident, but fortunately, no lives were lost.

“The Commissioner of Police, Katsina State Police Command, CP Aliyu Abubakar Musa, has directed a thorough investigation to determine the cause of the explosion. Further developments will be communicated as the investigation proceeds.”
