Spokesperson for the command, ASP Mansir Hassan in a statement yesterday, said the operation followed an intelligence received by operatives, which resulted in the rescue of the two-year-old victim, identified as Zainab Abdulhameed.

According to him, the arrested syndicate confessed to their involvement in the heinous crime. They are Angela Onazu residing in Sabo Kaduna, Shehu Sani, Tskan Isiaku and   Hafsat Hussaini, all living in Ungwar Rimi Kaduna. Hassan said: “The modus operandi of the syndicate involves targeting underage children who are alone on the streets or running errands.

Meanwhile, the state Commissioner of Police, Ali Audu Dabigi has commended “the diligent efforts of the operatives involved in the operation and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to partnering with communities to ensure the safety and security of all residents, particularly the most vulnerable members of the society.” He noted that through increased vigilance and cooperation, “we can build a safer environment for our children to thrive.”
