Police nab suspected robbers, assailants of Alausa DPO
The Police in Lagos State have arrested three armed robbery suspects, three days after the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Alausa, Lagos, Tokunbo Abaniwonda was attacked during a sting operation to Otedola Bridge, Lagos.
The suspects are Tochuckwu Nonso, 29, a.k.a Thug life, who is the ring leader, Chidera Christopher, 25 and Richard Etim, 25.
On April 9, at about 11:00 p.m., a gang of three armed robbers surfaced from their hideout and attacked the DPO with cutlasses and other dangerous weapons, injured her and made away with her Samsung S22 phone and other belongings.
After the dastardly act, the hoodlums ran away to an unknown destination.
However, on April 13, at about 10:00.a.m., the Police received intelligence that the hoodlums were sighted at a hotel in Akute, Ajuwon area of Ogun State.
Confirming the development yesterday, spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, said upon receipt of the information, anti-crime team of the division moved swiftly to the location and Nonso, the ring leader, was arrested in company of Christopher and they were taken to the station for investigation with the exhibits found on them.
“Investigation revealed that the suspect forcefully snatched the handset from the DPO and also macheted her on the back.
“Further efforts led to the arrest of Etim. Further investigation revealed that the ring leader, who has been robbing on Otedola Bridge for the past five years but changing his gang members every now and then.”
“Guess what, since they were arrested on April 13, not one robbery incident has happened on Otedola Bridge,” he said.
