Police nab woman for maltreating child, deny abduction of DPO in Lagos
Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 32-year-old woman, Funmi Faith, who was captured in a viral video maltreating a female child.
The woman was videotaped beating the child with a plank and inflicting bodily injury on her. When she was confronted, she defended her action and boasted that she wouldn’t go to jail. Rather, the man confronting her would be jailed.
She was arrested by police officers from the Oke-Odo Division on Tuesday, June 4, while the child has been handed over to the Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development for care.
MEANWHILE, the spokesperson for the command, Benjamin Hundeyin, debunked rumour that a Lagos Divisional Police Officer (DPO) was kidnapped.
He said: “There is absolutely no truth in this claim. The said DPO is in his office, carrying out his duty of ensuring the safety of life and property within his area of responsibility.
“We sincerely thank all those who called this morning. We appreciate the concern. We indeed feel loved and promise to continue to discharge our duties professionally.”
