The Commissioner of Police, Ports Authority Police, Western Command, Oluwatoyin Agbaminoja, said adequate security measures have been put in place across the nation’s seaports, terminals, jetties, waterways and other critical maritime infrastructure to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
In a statement signed on Tuesday by the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, Isaac Hundeyin, the commissioner said officers and men of the command have been strategically deployed to strengthen surveillance, enhance visibility policing and safeguard lives and property before, during and after the festivities.
The commissioner urged all residents and visitors within the port environment to uphold the values of peace, unity and mutual respect throughout the celebration period.
“As Nigerians commemorate this important religious festival which symbolises sacrifice, obedience, tolerance, and love, I heartily felicitates with Muslim faithful, maritime stakeholders, port users, and the general public on the joyous occasion of the celebration,” she stated.
Agbaminoja further called on members of the public, port operators, transport unions and maritime stakeholders to remain security conscious and promptly report any suspicious movement or activities to the nearest port police formation.
While wishing Muslim faithful a joyous and spiritually fulfilling Eid-el-Kabir celebration, the commissioner reassured the public of the Command’s unwavering commitment to maintaining law and order.
She also stated that the command would ensure safety within the port corridors and sustain effective policing in support of Nigeria’s maritime economy.
