Productivity centre promotes 195 staff, appoints new planning director
The National Productivity Centre has promoted 195 staffers as it named a Director of Planning and Policy Analysis. The Director-General of the Centre, Dr. Kashim Akor, who revealed this in Abuja, explained that promotion is a necessary motivational tool as well as a morale booster to achieve organisational growth.
“In our last promotion exercise, 35 management staffers were promoted, including seven directors. For other categories of staff, 160 were moved to the next position. In all, 195 staffers were promoted. I am convinced that the promotions will translate to greater accomplishment by the staffers for the benefit of the centre,” he stated.
The NPC boss stressed that over the last few years, the management has been able to turn the centre around where it has not now become a kind of melting point for economic activities.
In the same vein, the NPC has approved the appointment of Rosemary Esekhagbe as the Director/Head, Planning and Policy Analysis Department of the Centre.
She replaces Dr. Gbenga Bamiduro, who recently retired from service. Akor has also appointed Bamiduro as a Consultant, Project Implementation.
The Ministry of Labour and Employment recently gave an award to Bamiduro for his dedication to duty. Akor said the recognition by the parent ministry was a testimony to the work that the Centre is doing. He said: “For the ministry to reward the immediate past director was an endorsement of our efforts toward nation-building.
Indeed, it is a big endorsement of what we are doing as a centre. We give awards to people but receive none ourselves. For the ministry to recognise one of our own is a landmark appreciation and we are well pleased with the award.”
For Nigeria to emerge stronger from the effects of COVID-19, Akor charged stakeholders in the economic space to embrace productive templates in all facets of their national life.
Akor said: “I urge Nigerians to imbibe the spirit of productivity in all their activities. The country will be better within a short period. Productivity applies not only to white-collar jobs, in the private sector but at an individual levels and in all facets. Productivity is necessary for us as a country to reduce the biting global economic crunch and emerging health challenges.”
