The Parent-Teacher Association of Nigeria (PTAN) has urged the Federal Government to immediately facilitate the release of 12 female students held hostage by bandits since last year.

The Parent-Teacher Association of Nigeria (PTAN) has urged the Federal Government to immediately facilitate the release of 12 female students held hostage by bandits since last year.

The call followed the recent government-facilitated release of the last batch of victims abducted by terrorists in the March 28, 2022 Kaduna-Abuja train attack.

PTAN appealed to the government to apply the same method in freeing the abducted students of Federal Government College, Yawuri and Bethel Baptist College, Kaduna.

PTAN National President, Haruna Danjuma, expressed concern, yesterday, following a social media video showing some of the students being conscripted, and brandishing AK-47 rifles.

Danjuma said: “These kidnapped female students were seen carrying all sorts of war weapons, which is really dangerous for their future. Their life is in serious danger, as they are now exposed to dangerous weapons and notorious people.”

Danjuma appealed to the Federal Government and the governments of Kebbi, Kaduna to “as a matter of urgency, try their possible best to free the kidnapped children.”

He urged the Federal Government to use “the same wisdom, skills and pattern” it deployed in rescuing the abducted victims of the train attack “to secure the release of our abandoned female school students that are still in captivity for over one year.”
