Redesigned Prof. Dora Akunyili Centre to gulp N500m

IN its bid to upgrade the facility for better service delivery, the Anambra State government has said it would spend the sum of N500 million to redesign and expand the Professor Dora Akunyili Women Development Centre, Awka.

The centre, which used to have an uncompleted amphitheatre, a parking space, a conference centre and guesthouse would, with the new design, have an expanded Amphitheatre, a football pitch with carpet grass and a parking space to accommodate over 2,000 cars.

Speaking with The Guardian, the state Commissioner for Housing, Mr. Frank Emeka Offor, said government is working on three stadia: the old stadium located on Arthur Eze Avenue, another at the Dora Akunyili Women Development Centre and a new facility to be sited on the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway, near Amansea in Awka North local government.
