Rivers State Governor Siminalaye Fubara

The Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, Chijioke Ihunwo, has announced that a police station will be built at the site of a collapsed building, at the Egbelu Mbaraja axis of Ogbogoro Community of the Council.

Ihunwo disclosed this during an on-the-spot inspection of the two-storey building that collapsed on Monday.

After inspecting the site and the rubble, Ihunwo explained that the decision to build a police station at the site was to provide security to the people of the community.

He also noted that the decision followed talks with the State Commissioner for the Ministry of Urban Development, Evans Bipi, who had visited the site on the day of the incident.

It was learned that the building, a two storey, still undergoing construction, collapsed and claimed one life with another victim reportedly in critical condition after sustaining severe injuries.

The incident happened barely one week after a similar collapse happened in the Iriebe community in the same local government.
