Civil rights activist and a lawmaker in the defunct 8th Senate, Shehu Sani, has called on the Federal Government to release the protesters of End Bad Governance in custody.
He said the government should also free the leaders of the protesters in detention custody.
“Now that the first and second wave of the “EndBadGovernance protests has come and gone, I wish to appeal to the Federal Government to consider the withdrawal of treason charges against those alleged to have led or participated in the protests,” he said in a social media post.
The Federal Government declared a British citizen wanted for treason charges and also arrested some people who were said to have led the protest against bad governance, hardship, and poverty in the country.

“I wish to also appeal to the FG to forgive and release those who are in detention in prisons across the country, but yet to be charged,” he said.
However, he explained that “those who were involved in acts of looting, arson, violence, and sabotage during the protests can be made to answer for their actions.”
