Sanwo-Olu congratulates Chairman of Inner Wheel, Aberuagba

 

 

Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has congratulated the newly installed Chairman of Inner Wheel District 912 club, Mrs Abiola Aberuagba, calling for the club’s increased humanitarian services.

Represented by ‘Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin, the Secretary to the Lagos State Government, Sanwo-Olu gave the congratulatory message at the 18th installation ceremony of the club’s District Chairman and its Executives 2024 – 2025 on Saturday night in Lagos.

 

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the theme of the club for year 2024 – 2025 is “Heartbeat of Humanity (Every Beat Counts, Every Action Matters)”.

He said that the chairmanship was well deserved.

 

Sanwo-Olu said that Lagos state was proud of Aberuagba, describing her as ‘a dedicated staff of the state’.

 

According to him, Aberuagba is a good ambassador of Lagos state, who  served passionately at different cadres of office in the state and still actively serving at the Lagos State Emergency

Management Agency (LASEMA).

The governor urged her to do more of humanitarian services; helping the vulnerable citizens, out-of-school children and less privileged as she extends the gesture to citizens of Ogun state.

He also admonished her to continue upholding the highest standards of integrity, dedication and commitment to service, which she had been known for in the discharge of her duties.

 

“On behalf of the government, and the people of Lagos state, I congratulate Mrs Olufunke Aberuagba, on her installation as the new chairman of Inner Wheel District 912.

 

“Aberuagba, as chairman of the club, is well deserved, and going by her antecedents over the years in Lagos State Government service, she will not disappoint the club,” he said.

 

Speaking, the Immediate District Chairman, Mrs Omolara Mohammed, said that service to humanity had been the core mandate of the club particularly during her tenure.

 

Represented by a past District Chairman, Mrs Funke Shinaba, Mohammed thanked members of the club for their support and congratulated the new District Chairman, Aberuagba.

 

She listed some of the past achievements made by the club to include women and youths training and empowerment, to which more 29 women and youths were trained and empowered.

 

The guest speaker at the event, Dr Olumide Metilelu, said that ‘Heart of Humanity’ symbolises how people helps, assists and relates with one another in the society.

 

Metilelu said it also symbolised the readiness of the club to make a difference by impacting and touching people’s lives positively, urging members to always be mindful of the way they relate with people; showing love and kindness to others.

 

“By the club’s theme for the year; it symbolises your readiness to make an impact and touch people’s lives positively.

 

“Take a collective action that will impact on other people; and you must be deliberate about your action.

“Every action matters no matter how small, always be kind in your dealings and show love and compassion to others,” Metilelu said.

 

Speaking, the new District Chairman, Aberuagba, expressed excitement over her new position and appreciated members of the club, the government, friends and family for their support.

 

In her acceptance speech, Aberuagba pledged the readiness of her office and Executives to take the club to the next level and impact positively on people’s lives particularly the less privileged.

 

According to her, the club will be partnering with the state government, organisations and alike to ensure greater achievements for the club and Nigeria at large.

Other dignitaries present at the event included Ex-Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Alhaja Sinatu Ojikutu; Presidents of clubs in Nigeria; Mrs Zainab Ikheloa, National Representative National Governing Board of Inner Wheel Clubs in Nigeria; Ms Karin Uwaje, and many other past District Chairmen of the club.
