Seamoriow FC, fondly known as the Inspired Boys, have etched their name in history by clinching the championship title at the maiden edition of the Peace Cup Scouting Tournament. The Ikotun-based club, established in July 2023, showcased outstanding skill and determination to emerge victorious in the tournament held at the Legacy Pitch, Surulere, Lagos.

On Sunday, Seamoriow FC defeated FC Bethel Sporting 2-0 in a thrilling final to lift the trophy. The victory marks a significant milestone in the club’s budding journey. Paul Salako’s exceptional performance earned him the Man of the Match award in the final.

Earlier in the day, Bayine Sports secured third place with a convincing 2-0 victory over SGFC Athletics in the losers’ final.

Speaking after the event, tournament organiser Nathaniel Olagunju commended all participating teams for their discipline, competitive spirit, and high-quality performances throughout the tournament. He also congratulated Seamoriow FC on their well-deserved triumph, highlighting their professionalism and determination.

President of Seamoriow FC, Oluwaseyi Amos, expressed his excitement and pride in the club’s remarkable achievement. “I am excited about this feat. It translates to the fact that we are doing the right thing. Winning is a reward for the efforts we have been putting in behind the scenes over the past few months, laying the building blocks for our vision for the club and its talents to be realised,” Amos stated.

He further emphasised the club’s long-term vision: “We will continue building on this and not rest on our oars. This is only the start for us, and we believe we are just scratching the surface of what will soon blossom. Our ultimate goal is for players to secure professional contracts abroad, and we are confident that this will start manifesting soon as the football world is beginning to take notice of us.”

The Peace Cup Scouting Tournament is one of the many opportunities been created by Nigerian Football Stakeholders at the grassroots offering a platform for young talents to showcase their abilities and compete at a high level.

Seamoriow FC’s triumph not only solidifies their status as a rising force in Nigerian football but also serves as a beacon of inspiration for aspiring footballers, reaffirming the potential for greatness within local talent.
