Senate lauds Dangote’s heavy-duty truck initiative

The Senate has praised Dr. Aliko Dangote’s quest to put Nigeria on the global map by creating a heavy-duty truck assembly plant.

Speaking during the committee inspection of Dangote Sinotruk West Africa Limited, Ikeja Assembly Plant, Vice Chairman of the Senate Committee on Industry, Senator Shuaibu Lau, hailed Dangote Sinotruk West Africa Limited for its efforts in achieving major industrial breakthroughs.

Speaking shortly after the inspection tour, Senator Lau said the committee was impressed with what they saw at the assembly plant and advised the company to outsource raw materials to local companies.
“The leadership of NASS is ready to push and make Dangote compete with other manufacturers globally,” he said.

“We have listened to some of your challenges. The NASS is ready to help you in terms of legislation and policy formulation that will make you do better.

“We will come early next year while we await what you want us to do to protect you. We are ready to protect you in terms of policy formulation. We thank Dangote for putting Nigeria on the map of industrial nations.”

The visiting team also included the Director-General of the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), Oluwemimo Joseph Osanipin; the Director of Policy, Mr. Sani Musa; and the Deputy Director of Press and Protocol, Mrs. Felicia Oyebolu.
