Shehu Sani dismisses Niger junta leader’s terrorism allegation against Nigeria
A former Senator representing Kaduna Central, Shehu Sani, has dismissed the claim by the junta leader of Niger Republic, Abdourahamane Tchiani, about the complicity of Nigeria in the formation of the Lakurawa terrorist group as baseless and ‘wild conjectures’.
chiani had in a Christmas day broadcast revealed that Nigeria was harbouring the Lakurawa terrorists.
The Niger leader also accused Nigeria of planning to set up a military base for France.
Reacting, Sani said for a country whose people have suffered over a decade of kidnappings and bloodshed in the hands of terrorists and still fighting, it’s inconceivable that such a terrorist group will ever be harboured here.
The former lawmaker who shared on X said the Niger President’s claims are wild conjectures; and hollow, superstitious and imaginary conspiracy theories lacking any credible evidence.
This was as he urged Niger and Nigeria to work together in confronting and extinguishing the common threat.
Meanwhile, Nigeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has debunked Tchiani’s allegations as a figment of his imagination.
“Most importantly, there are no French soldiers in Nigeria or any plans by the government of Nigeria to establish a military post manned by the French,” the ministry said in a statement.
