Shodunke becomes first female President of RC Isolo Metro

The baton of the sixth and that of the first female President of Rotary Club of Isolo Metro was officially passed to Dns. Adefunke Shodunke at her investiture ceremony that took place at the Pavilion Hall, National Orthopaedic Hospital, Igbobi, Lagos.
The President takes on the mantle of leadership.

Induction of 2024-2025 board members and fund raising for humanitarian service projects for her service year also took place at the event.

Speaking at the investiture, Shodunke said executing of projects cut across the seven areas of focus of Rotary International such as maternal and child health which cover caring for mothers, nursing mothers and children.

According to her, other projects are in connection with environment, medical, education and literacy as well as conflict resolution that has to do with talking to the youths on how to manage conflicts.

She enumerated projects already carried out to include giving out of 50 baby courts and diapers to nursing mothers, membership parade to sensitise people about Rotary and its activities as well as seminar on how to grow business. Projects in the pipeline include building of school toilet at Isolo Grammar School; provision of water for members of the community at Apata, Isolo; visiting the destitute at Ebute-metta with a view to feeding about 500 of them; giving out of between 100 and 150 school bags with exercise books to students in about four schools.

Shodunke named her star project to be the provision of water for members of the community at Apata which would be fixed at the central place of Apata at a cost close to N2 million.

She disclosed that the 4-Way Rotary Test would be spread to every nook and cranny while the club, though a growing club would not ignore the Rotary Foundation as every member would be contributing at least $10 to completely eradicate polio while some would even do as much as $100.

The president also expressed the desire to send some youth to Rotary Youth Leadership Academy (RYLA) among others.

Assistant Governor, Akanni Soyoye at the event said his expectation from the new president was to retain her membership, carry out her projects and handover when her time is due.

The Incoming President after Shodunke, Ganiyu Oluwagbemiga, said he would assist the incumbent president to succeed and focus on growing the membership.

Past President Gbenga Ososami, said going by the track record of Shodunke, he believed she would be a successful President.
