Song farmers/herders clash: Adamawa govt sues for peace
Adamawa State government has appealed for peace following the last weekend farmers/herders clash in which five people were reported killed.
The Guardian Newspaper recalls that the avoidable incident occurred at Kukta community, Waltadi ward in Song local government area.
The Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to Governor Ahmad Fintiri (peace and security,) Comrade Ahmad Lawan, in a statement copied our reporter, condemned what he described as: “barbaric and unlawful act.”
He urged both sides “to sheath their swords for peace and tranquility as the Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s administration is working assiduously to ensure protection of lives and properties of the citizens in the state.”

Meanwhile, the press statement added that the Commissioner of Police has drafted anti-riot squad to the area, urging all and sundry to cooperate with the peace machanism in place to address the breach of law and order.
“I also charge our critical stakeholders including: traditional and religious leaders, youth leadership and politicians to engage their membership on the importance of peace,” he stated.
