Tech firm launches scholarship to enhance youth digital skills
A leading Nigerian technology company, Chedaro, has launched a digital skills scholarship programme aimed at equipping young Africans with critical skills to participate in the continent’s growing digital economy.
Tagged “Equip by Chedaro,” the three-month intensive training programme will focus on Artificial Intelligence, machine learning, digital marketing, web development, and blockchain technology.
The initiative is coming at a time when Nigeria’s digital economy is experiencing significant growth, with internet penetration soaring, creating a large market for digital services.
However, a significant skills gap exists, hindering the country’s ability to fully capitalize on this potential.
Youth unemployment also remains a major challenge, with many young graduates lacking the practical skills needed by employers in the tech sector.
According to the Chief Executive Officer of Chedaro, Uno, the initiative reflects the company’s commitment to driving meaningful societal change through technology.
“Our goal is to provide young people with the skills and confidence they need to succeed in the digital economy. This programme is a step towards building a future where talent and opportunity meet,” Uno said.
The 90-day programme, which commences on February 10, 2025, is open to interested candidates, but spaces are limited.
Uno explained that the scholarship programme will provide successful applicants with access to high-quality training that many young people typically find cost-prohibitive.
“It will feature industry expert-led training, hands-on projects, and networking opportunities with potential employers. Participants who complete the course will receive recognized certifications in their chosen fields,” he added.
The programme is expected to create a positive effect, where trained professionals become change-makers in their communities and industries.
