A 20-year-old man, Faruk Azeez, has died from injuries sustained after being stabbed by 19-year-old Fatimo Agboke in the Ijegun area of Lagos State. The Guardian learned that the incident occurred on September 9, at approximately 8:20 pm.

According to a police source, a complainant from the Ijegun area reported to the Isheri Oshun Police Division that he had received a call from his neighbour about an argument between Azeez and Agboke that escalated into a fight. During the fight, Agboke stabbed Azeez in the neck with a broken bottle, causing severe injury.

The complainant further stated that while attempting to rush the victim to the hospital for urgent medical attention, Azeez succumbed to his injuries. Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident.

He said that upon receiving the information, detectives from the division rushed to the scene, where they found the deceased’s lifeless body lying face-up in a pool of blood with a deep cut on his neck.

The corpse was taken to Mainland General Hospital Mortuary in Yaba, Lagos State, for an autopsy. The suspect was arrested, and an investigation is ongoing.

Meanwhile, a 55-year-old woman, identified simply as Ifeoma, has died while giving testimony in a Lagos church. The Lagos State Police Command stated that on September 8, the zonal accountant of the Ministry Church in Iyana Ejigbo, Lagos, reported to the station that Ifeoma collapsed while singing and giving her testimony during the church’s Testimony Hour that same day.

According to him, the woman was rushed to a nearby hospital but was referred to General Hospital Isolo, where she was confirmed dead. Hundeyin said detectives were dispatched to visit the hospital with the complainant, but upon arrival, they were informed that the deceased’s husband and family had taken her body to Anambra State, her place of origin, for burial.
