Terrorists have planted land mines on roads leading to some communities in Zamfara State where they operate in order to prevent soldiers from rescuing kidnapped victims.

The terrorists operating in the Dansadau and Yargaladima communities of Maru Local Government Area in Zamfara State, allegedly led by Dogo Gide, reportedly adopted the guerrilla war strategy of planting land mines.

According to a BBC Hausa Service report monitored on Monday afternoon in Kaduna, a local alleged that on Sunday night, the terrorists regrouped in a forest, planning to launch another attack on the Yargaladima community.

He said locals in the affected communities were living in fear and were apprehensive, not knowing what the next hour would bring.

“The terrorists detonated the land mines in the night and abducted seven people, women and little children,” the locals alleged.

According to the BBC report, the land mines blew up a vehicle conveying passengers on a road, when the driver attempted to return home and convey more passengers.

They said the incident happened on Sunday and was part of the newly adopted strategy by the hoodlums to deny security forces access to them when they attacked communities.

A local who spoke anonymously explained that whenever the terrorists used bombs or land mines, accusing fingers were pointed at Dogo Gide, as his strategy was to use this method and rob all the linear communities from the Dansadau axis to Gusau, the state capital.

“The terrorists were invading the Magami and Gusau area,” he alleged.”We got the information that the terrorists are currently regrouping to attack Dansadau and Sabon Salo.”

Yazid Abubakar, spokesperson for the Zamfara State Police Command, has told journalists that he would react to the incident as soon as he gets the full details.
