‘The Guardian’ correspondent wins Media Award of the Year
Cornelius Essen, a correspondent for The Guardian Newspaper, has been recognised for his outstanding contributions to the property, environment, and housing sectors in Nigeria.
He was recently honoured with the Media Award of the Year at the 7th Nigeria Affordable Housing Finance Innovation Summit & Expo (NAHFIS).
The award, presented by the summit’s convener, Saheed K.Yemi Adelakan, acknowledges Essen’s decade-long commitment to reporting on these crucial sectors.
Adelakan also announced awardees in the following categories: “Leadership Award: Prof. Ibrahim Gambari, Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan, Dr. (Mrs.) Hanatu Adamu Fika, Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, Binta L. Adamu Bello, Hajiya Fatima Nana Mede, Amb. Akin Oyateru, Ambassador Adeyemi Dipeolu, Prince Tunde Oguntade, Engr. Lanre Akinsola, and Prince Akintoye Adeoye.
“Excellence Award: Glen Jordan, Pedro Ribeiro, Mark Weinrich, David Smith, Sam Odia, Ayodeji A. Joseph, Tayo Odunsi, Julius Odera, Engr. Gbemi Omole, Monsurat Muhammed, Salamatu Ahmed, Stephen Wanjala, Abubakar Musa Maijama’a, and Iyitor Marcella.
“Housing Innovation Awards: EMPOWA, Lagos State Development Property Cooperation, Real Estate Developers Association of Nigeria (REDAN), OPDA Investment SA, and TALIK Investment Limited.
“Housing Cooperative Award: Kuscco Housing Cooperative Society Limited.
“Performance Award: Fagboyo Oladapo, Enemayi Shuaibu, Uche Maryam Joseph, M. Ahmed Ibrahim, Godwin O. Idu, Madubuike Gladys, Ahmed Muhammed, Violet Hamman Ndahi, and Basheer Jamiu.”
Adelakan noted that the awardees have made significant contributions by promoting innovative building technologies, digital transformation, self-help initiatives through cooperative models, capacity building among professionals and artisans, and fostering collaboration among stakeholders.
