Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has said that a society that does not believe in the consequences of bad behaviours will perpetually face corruption.

Speaking during a youth dialogue, Obasanjo stated that there is no country without corruption but there are countries where corruption is not a way of life.

He berated successive governments after his tenure for alleged poor handling of the power sector, lamenting that turbines purchased during his administration have remained uninstalled.

Obasanjo stated that for youths to change the narrative, they must be positively instructive.

The former president disclosed that when he was working to secure debt relief for Nigeria, some Nigerians never believed it would work but his convictions and persistence made it reality.

He argued that western liberal democracy is not suitable for the country, stating it is the reason no visible development has been recorded.

Also speaking at the event, Senior Programme Development Officer, Youth Development Centre, Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Martins Adogbajale, noted that the youth governance dialogue is a platform for young minds to engage Obasanjo on issues in Africa including receiving mentorship on how to solve these problems.
