TOOAN distributes free fuel vouchers to tricycle operators
In commemoration of Nigeria’s 64th Independence celebration, the Zone C chairman of the Tricycle Owners and Operators Association of Nigeria (TOOAN), Azeez Abiola, yesterday, gave out N5,000 worth of free fuel vouchers to over 5,000 tricycle riders in Alimoso area of Lagos State.
The exercise took place in three different locations: Al-istijabah/Rainoil filling station in Alagbado, Fatgbems filling station in Ayobo and the NNPC filling station in Abule Egba.
According to the TOOAN Chairman, the project, which is estimated at over N25 million was his little way of giving back to society and showing appreciation to all the tricycle operators for their hard work and dedication over the years. He admonished them to keep doing their best while also abiding by all the rules and regulations of the union and of the state.
When asked about the criteria for choosing the beneficiaries, he said nobody was exempted as those from other zones were allowed to benefit.
One of the beneficiaries, Azeez Adekunle, lauded the gesture, saying it will go a long way in reducing the burden of buying fuel for a day amid the current hardship in the country.
Another beneficiary, Wasiu Tijani, after expressing his gratitude, complained about the frequent extortion by police officers at Kola bus stop, who offered them up to N10,000 every day just for plying the route.
