The National Coordinator of National Transporters’ Games, Wale Shodeinde, has said that the game initiative aims to promote national unity and cohesion among Nigerians.

He explained that the recently unveiled mascot symbolizes strength and teamwork, representing a new era of unity in the transport sector.

Shodeinde stated this during a press briefing at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja, emphasing the role of sports in fostering unity and understanding across Nigeria’s diverse population.

He said: “This game is directed at the National Unity of our dear country. And that is the reason why we are having the unveiling of Moscow today in the northern part of the country. While we have the competitions in the South part.

“And I want to assure your hosts that we are going to host the next edition in the north. The national transporter is set for unity among transporters because we believe Sports it’s a unifying Factor. Spots used to be defy.”

Shodeinde also shared that the National Transporters’ Games, set for December in Abeokuta, Ogun State, will feature athletes from eight transport organizations competing in six sports: Football, Draught, Athletics, Table Tennis, Swimming, and Ayo.

A key promoter of the upcoming event, Senator Prince Gbolahan Dada, said that beyond national cohesion, the competition would stimulate the economic potential of the country’s transport system.

He noted that the event aims to bring together transport sector stakeholders from across the country, fostering camaraderie and collaboration among participants.

As the maiden National Transporters’ Games billed for December 2024 drew closer, Dada expressed readiness for the National competition tagged ‘Unity in Motion, Strength in Diversity’.

He said that by bringing together people from different backgrounds and regions, the games aim to promote a sense of shared identity and purpose.

Also speaking at the briefing, Chairman, Miss Football Nigeria, Honourable Solomon Bamola, concurred that the Economic value of Sports cannot be overemphasized, adding that the national transporters’ games provide a perfect opportunity to change people’s perception about transport workers.

“The National Transporters’ Games promise to be a significant platform for enhancing unity and collaboration within Nigeria’s transport sector, signaling a bright future for the industry and its participants.”
