Transporters hail military for clearing Kaduna-Abuja road of bandits

Transporters in Kaduna State have expressed their appreciation to the Nigerian Armed Forces for curbing the activities of bandits and kidnappers along the Kaduna-Abuja expressway.

The commendation was made during a Peace and Development sensitisation event organised by the Ayudantes Empowerment Initiative (AEI) in Kaduna on Friday.

This was revealed in a press statement issued by AEI’s Executive Director, Amechi Chuks Oyema, and made available to newsmen on Sunday.

Oyema noted that the sensitisation campaign covered areas such as Rigasa, Central Market, Kano Road, Barkin Ruwa Bypass, and Abuja Park in Kaduna.

According to the statement, “the transporters commended the military, under the leadership of the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Chris Musa, for making life increasingly difficult for criminals operating along the route.”

“During the sensitisation, the transporters praised the military for intercepting terrorists attempting to relocate from Alawa Forest in Niger State to Birnin Gwari in Kaduna State,” the statement added.

The transporters lamented the negative impact the criminal activities had on their businesses and the state’s economic growth.

They also urged the military to intensify efforts by thoroughly combing the forests to root out the kidnappers and their accomplices.

Welcoming the sensitisation initiative, the transporters noted that it plays a crucial role in rallying support for the military’s ongoing efforts to restore peace and stability not just in Kaduna but throughout the North-West region.

The AEI’s Peace and Development sensitisation campaign has previously taken the team to Lagos, Keffi, and Kaduna.
