Tribunal upholds Longjan’s election as Plateau senator
The National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Jos, Plateau State, yesterday upheld the election of Senator Ignatius Longjan of the All Progressives Congress (APC) representing Plateau South.
The tribunal, in a unanimous judgement read by its chairman, Justice Joy Nwoye, held that the petitioners failed to prove their case beyond reasonable doubts.
Kefas Dandam and his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had asked the tribunal to upturn the result of the election in favour of Dandam due to irregularities.
They claimed that the election conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was not in compliance with extant laws.
