Two restaurant managers to be charged to court for breaking Lagos govt seal

Two managers of a restaurant, Kingfisher, located in Lekki, will be charged in court for breaking the seal that the Lagos State government used to shut the facility.

This was disclosed in a post on the official X (formerly Twitter) handle of the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) on Monday.

LASEPA said in the statement that the two managers of Kingfisher Restaurant were arrested in the early hours of Monday after illegally resuming full operations.

“While on a routine compliance assessment of sealed facilities last night, the Commissioner of Environment, Tokunbo Wahab, and the General Manager (GM) of LASEPA, Tunde Ajayi, discovered that Kingfisher, a restaurant at Lekki, had broken the government seals and were running operations at full scale,” the agency wrote.

“The Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s monitoring team, provided security backup, and two managers were arrested at about 12:30 am with the help of the Chief Security Officer (CSO) to the Governor.”

LASEPA added that the two managers will be charged in court today (Monday) and face the maximum consequences of their actions.

Meanwhile, LASEPA has also confirmed that its operatives closed down some entertainment centres in Lekki Phase 1 on Saturday for repeated environmental violations.

Some of the affected establishments include Red Bar, Kingfisher, Sea Lounge, HOV Lounge, Circa, Bolivar and Bay Lounge.
