Umontuen receives prestigious who’s who Africa Man of the Year award
The chairman of Maurid Group, Dr Godwin Umontuen has received who’s who Africa Man of the Year award. In an investiture ceremony organized by Time Africa Magazine on Wednesday at Merit house Abuja, Dr Umontuen was honoured for his untiring commitment to the nursing profession in Nigeria.
Dr Umontuen who is not a nurse but has passion in training nurses has established two colleges of nursing science at Obohia Ndoki and Maurid college of Nursing Science Mbiaso Akwa ibom State both accredited by the Nursing and Midwifery council of Nigeria. His institutions are renowned for setting new standards in nursing education and providing programs that meet international standards.
” I am not a nurse, but I have passion in training nurses and it took us two years to license the first one” Dr Umontuen says.
Dr Umontuen who started small was the founder and Rector of Maurid Polytechnic Mbiaso Akwa ibom State was attending the joint policy meetings for close to 15 years before building college of Nursing Science obohia and Maurid college of Nursing Science Mbiaso Akwa ibom State.

Who’s who Africa is limited and presented to individuals who embody the values of excellence , leadership and service to society with a particular focus on fostering sustainable growth and a unified future for Africa which Dr Godwin Umontuen fits in.
It highlights the diverse and dynamic contributions of Africans making a difference both on the continent and on the global scale.
Dr Umontuen thanked the management of Time Africa for finding him worthy of this award and recognition. He promised to contribute his quota for the development of our Nation.
