Denies rift among management, staff, governing council member
The University of Medical Sciences (UNIMED), Ondo State, has warned that it will not condone the move by some faceless groups and individuals planning to create crises in the institution and as well as cause division in the state.

The institution, while emphasising that the first specialised medical and health sciences university in the country is not in crisis, dissociates itself from a purported report maligning the personalities of members of staff and governing council members of the institution.

A statement by the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the institution, Isaac Oluyi, said that some agents of destabilisation had been “feeding fat on fabrications about the University of Medical Sciences, Ondo.”

The statement was in reaction to a report making the rounds in the state alleging that some members of staff, Prof. Adolphus Loto, Prof. Odimayo, and Olalekan Oladipupo, and a governing council member, Kukoyi, were planning to disrupt the institution.

A group of concerned individuals, under the aegis of the Concerned Stakeholders Forum, had raised the alarm.

Oluyi, while absorbing UNIMED from the publication, said: “This is not who we are. The university is not in crisis. It is an institution that keeps improving in all areas of teaching, research, and community service with a focus on being the first and the best in health professions education.

“The faceless group, ‘Concerned Stakeholders Forum,’ is not known to the university and cannot speak or make any case on behalf of the institution.

“When there is conflict within and/or among members of staff, there are internal mechanisms in place to resolve the issues.

“The university is for Ondo State, and not for a section of the state. We therefore condemn any attempt to create division and disaffection among the peace-loving people of Ondo State using UNIMED.”
