Uzodimma, Ohakim, others to grace South East media summit
Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, and a former Governor of the State, Dr. Ikedi Ohakim, are among the prominent personalities and resource persons that would attend the median Media Summit in South East.
The summit, scheduled to be held in Owerri, the Imo State capital on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, is organised by an Imo State-based media outfit, the Nigerian Horn Group of Newspapers, in collaboration with South East media practitioners.
In a statement signed by the Chairman of the Planning Committee, KennedyEweama, which was made available to The Guardian, “the Summit is expected to provide a veritable ground for the cross-pollination of ideas, as they affect the prospects and challenges of the journalism profession vis-à-vis democratic governance in the geopolitical zone.”
Eweama further stated that notable Nigerians, who have distinguished themselves in various fields of human endeavours, would also be honoured at the event.

He said: “This summit with the theme, ‘The Media, Ethical Responsibility and Democracy: South East in Perspective,’ aims to also proffer ways the journalism practice can thrive without let or hindrance from government institutions, while discharging its social responsibility obligations to the society.”
