We’ll never negotiate with terrorists – Katsina governor
Katsina State Governor, Dr Dikko Radda, said terrorists were increasing attacks on some communities in the state with the view of getting the government to negotiate with them.
Radda, who stated this at a press conference marking his administration’s 100 days, however, vowed that his government would never negotiate with terrorists, no matter what they do.
He also added that his government would not pay ransom to terrorists for victims abducted, but would accept any terrorist that decides to surrender and renounce his ways.
Radda said his administration would work with security agencies to intensify the onslaught against terrorists with the view to tackling the challenge within the shortest time possible.
He said 1,500 youths from seven councils affected by the problem, have been recruited to collaborate with security agencies to combat terrorists and take the fight to their hideouts.
Radda also said that N7 billion had been expended by his government in the purchase of armoured vehicles and related equipment, for use by security agencies in combating terrorists.
He, however, said that the public should not expect the security situation to be addressed within a short-term period, as the challenge had been existing for several years.
