The Baameko of Ibadan Land, Oloye Saheed Oladele, has underscored the importance of allowing young Nigerians to get more functional in strategic positions across the country, maintaining that the best thing that can happen to Nigeria is to give the youth the chance in leadership positions.

He stated that youths possess the energy and vigour that can help drive true development in any community or nation.

In a statement on Friday, Oladele said: “If we allow the youth to get more functional within our system, the system will change more positively. Yes, people can say we have tested some youths in the past and they failed to deliver. The question is: What kind of youths were given the chance because the kind of youths given the chance will determine the kind of result you will get.

“When a youth that embezzled money in a previous assignment is the one given an opportunity to lead, if he embezzles further, who do we blame?”

He expressed optimism that President Bola Tinubu, as a believer in the youth, would work to give youths with proven integrity the chance to take leadership positions, even as governors.

On his political aspirations, Oladele said the electoral law does not allow him to start campaigning but some persons and groups have been clamouring for him to contest for the Oyo State governorship.
