Two separate incidents in Lagos yesterday left authorities investigating a mysterious death and a tragic drowning. In the Dopemu area, a woman died after suddenly feeling unwell in a hotel room. The woman, who remains unidentified, had checked into the hotel with a man around 9:30 p.m. on October 11, 2024.

An hour later, she rushed out, complaining of severe heat. Despite being given cold water by the hotel manager, her condition deteriorated, and she was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The man who accompanied her fled the scene before authorities arrived.

The hotel manager, who failed to record the couple’s identities, is currently in police custody assisting with the investigation. Police spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the incident and stated that efforts are underway to identify the deceased, determine the cause of death, and apprehend the fleeing man.

In a separate incident, a 45-year-old man named Kazeem drowned in a river at Odo Tente, a boundary community between Lagos and Ogun states.According to a report filed at the Alagbado Police Division, Kazeem, suspected to be under the influence of a hard drug known as Colorado, ran uncontrollably and jumped into the river. His body was later recovered, and his father requested that he be buried near the river.
