As part of measures to provide improved medical services to citizens in the state, the Federal Government, in partnership with the World Bank, has commenced the revitalisation of 58 primary healthcare facilities in Nasarawa State.

The Executive Secretary of the Nasarawa State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr. Usman Iskilu-Saleh, disclosed this while playing host to members of the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists at his office in Lafia, the state capital, on Wednesday.

Dr Usman said that the Federal Government had planned to revitalise at least one PHC in each of the 147 electoral wards in the state but decided to commence with the revitalisation of 58 healthcare centres in some of the wards, adding that the project is expected to be completed in the month of June.

He said, “The Nigerian government has shown commitment to revitalising these healthcare facilities across the 147 electoral wards by the end of this year, 2025.

“So far, we have 58 facilities in Nasarawa State that we have already commenced revitalisation on, and it is expected to be completed by June this year.”

According to the Executive Secretary, upon completion of the revitalisation exercise, the health facilities will be functional 24 hours a day to enable beneficiaries to access good healthcare.

Usman added that the Federal Government would inject N300bn via the March bond auction to ensure the exercise of the 58 revitalised healthcare facilities across the 13 local government areas.

This, Iskilu-Saleh said, is in line with Governor Abdullahi Sule’s agenda to provide quality healthcare service delivery to the people of the state with full support.
