Your academics more important than social media, Agboke charges law students

Resident Electoral Commissioner of Osun State, Dr. Mutiu Agboke, has stressed the need for law students to prioritize their academics and avoid needless distractions that have a propensity to derail them from achieving their objectives as legal practitioners.

He disclosed this while speaking at  Chrisland University’s College of LawInaugural Law Dinner Tagged, “Pathway to a Successful Legal Career”.

Agboke who was the Keynote Speaker at the gathering, urged lawstudents that the only quick way to success in their chosen law career isprofessionalism and ethical practices. The constitutional lawyer also underscored the nuanced distinction between the knowledge of law and the practicalities of legal practice.

His words “Success at the Bar,” he proclaimed, “transcends mere accumulation of degrees. While a solid knowledge of law is indispensable, there are equally crucial factors that aspiring lawyers must not overlook.”

He urged the students to prioritize academics, cautioning against the pitfalls of social media and peer pressures that could divert their focus from the rigorous path of legal education.

Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Chinedum Babalola noted that the law college, being the most recent accredited college in the institution, has appeared to bevery promising noting that Chrisland university will produced the best oflawyers that will compete with the global best practices.

Also speaking, the  acting Dean/Provost of the College, Dr. Kayode Akinsola, emphasized on the need forthe students to take the bull by the horns from the beginning of their studies in the university, adding that Chrisland University has the best of thefacility, environment and lecturers for aspiring to earn law degree in Nigeria.

Distinguished figures from diverse corners of the legal profession in Nigeria graced the occasion at the College of Law marking asignificant milestone for the institution.
