PanAfrican Capital Foundation (PAC Foundation), the corporate social responsibility arm of PanAfrican Capital Holdings, has expanded its annual cancer awareness project, Project B, to address both breast and prostate cancer.

PanAfrican Capital Foundation (PAC Foundation), the corporate social responsibility arm of PanAfrican Capital Holdings, has expanded its annual cancer awareness project, Project B, to address both breast and prostate cancer.

In view of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, PAC Foundation provided free cancer screenings for underserved women and men, promoting early detection and health education.

According to the organisers, the dual-purpose campaign aims to combat the two most common cancers globally.

Speaking, Executive Secretary of PAC Foundation, Omolola Ojo lamented that every year, breast and prostate cancer claim hundreds of thousands of lives worldwide.

She added that since 2022, the foundation has sponsored over 300 individuals, including young widows in Lagos State, with free mammograms, ultrasound breast scans, and prostate cancer screenings.

She said: “Project B ensures underserved communities have access to life-saving screenings and education for early detection.

“This year, we collaborated with Women Rights and Health Foundation and Patrick Stephen Purple Heart Foundation for Young Widows Community. This collaboration allowed us to reach more individuals in need, ensuring that both women and men from underserved communities could benefit from free, high-quality cancer screening services.”

She added that screenings were held at Sage Diagnostics Centre, Lekki, with beneficiaries receiving education on cancer awareness, breast self-examination techniques, and prostate health.

Sage Diagnostics Centre’s in-house doctor, Dr. Gbogo Oyebade emphasised the importance of early detection, saying “Prevention is the first line of management because it is better prevented than cured.”

On his part, Programmes and Partnerships Officer at PAC Foundation, Joshua Dominic said, “In 2024, we included prostate cancer to ensure both women and men have access to tools and knowledge to protect their health.”

Beneficiaries expressed gratitude, including Mrs. Chika, who commended PAC Foundation for making screenings accessible.
