Democratic Leadership Alliance (DLA) consensus presidential candidate, Barr. Samuel Memeh

The opposition Democratic Leadership Alliance (DLA) has successfully conducted its presidential primary election across the federation, culminating in the adoption and affirmation of Samuel Memeh as the party’s consensus presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.

The party said the exercise was conducted peacefully and in accordance with its constitution as well as relevant electoral guidelines, with accredited delegates participating in the affirmation process.

According to the DLA, officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) were present to observe the proceedings.

DLA commended aspirants, delegates, stakeholders and members for what it described as their maturity, unity and commitment to democratic principles throughout the process.

The party said the emergence of Memeh as its consensus presidential flag bearer reflected the collective determination of its members to present a united front ahead of the next general election.

“The emergence of Barr. Samuel M. Memeh as the consensus candidate reflects the collective resolve of the Party to move forward with a united front in pursuit of credible leadership and national transformation,” the statement said.

The DLA further reaffirmed its commitment to issue-based politics, internal democracy and policies aimed at improving the welfare of Nigerians.

Memeh’s emergence places him among the growing list of presidential candidates already positioning themselves for the 2027 election cycle as political parties intensify preparations for what is expected to be a highly competitive contest.

The party expressed confidence that its candidate would provide the leadership required to address Nigeria’s socio-economic and governance challenges while advancing its vision for national development.
