Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno and his predecessor, Udom Emmanuel, will be speaking at the House of Commons in Westminster, tomorrow, when the three-day Eighth Annual London Political Summit and Awards (LPSA kicks off). Emmanuel is to deliver the keynote speech, according to the organisers, Cater and Merger Consult UK.

Also pencilled down to speak are two Members of Parliament (MPs), Paul Bristow, who is doubling as host of the Westminster session, and Jonathan Ashworth.

The Sierra Leonean High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Dr. Morie Manyeh, is to represent his country’s President at the event. The organisers, in a statement yesterday, said: “This year’s summit is going to be focusing on the dynamics of political culture and structure, by discussing the ‘four Ps’ that shape a community, ‘People, Place, Politics and Power’, which is the theme of the summit.”

The next day, the summit moves to the London Borough of Southwark, where the Mayor, Councillor Michael Shittu, would host Eno at a mayoral session.

The organisers stated that the LSPA is looking at the possibility of a “City Twining agreement between the London Borough of Southwark and The City of Uyo,” and thereby, “setting up an intercity cooperation and partnership for socio-economic development” of both communities.

The event ends on Friday with an award night.

“There would be awards for the African President of the Year, African Leader of the Year, Parliamentarian of the Year, LPSA Ambassador of the Year, London Borough Mayor of the Year, LPSA Business Leader of the Year and many more,” the statement added
