Arewa PDP caretaker boss in Edo promises inclusive administration
Caretaker Chairman of Arewa Community Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Edo State, Usman Sarehasu, has promised to operate an inclusive administration.
Sarehasu stated this in his acceptance speech, yesterday, when he was appointed Acting Chairman, following the removal of Sanni Mohammed whose tenure has ended.
At a gathering of the Arewa Community in Benin City, the President General of Arewa Forum, Edo State, and Convener of the gathering, Sahabi Umaru, said Mohammed had been in office for 16 years without conducting an election to usher in a new executive.
Besides, he said Mohammed had, on several occasions, received various items on behalf of the community without proper accountability. Umaru described his further stay in office after many years as illegality, saying the Arewa community across the three senatorial districts could not continue to thrive in and support illegality.
According to him, Mohammed was using his position to work for the opposition party, adding that if he remains in office, the Arewa community members might work for the opposition party in the forthcoming Edo governorship election.
When contacted, Mohammed faulted the grounds for his alleged removal as chairman, adding that he was in the office as caretaker chairman after his four-year tenure, following a resolution of the PDP leadership in Edo, given the forthcoming governorship election.
Also appointed is the Youth Leader, another Sanni Muhammed, who expressed the commitment of Arewa youths to work for the election of Asue Ighodalo in the September 21 governorship election.
